A weird coincidence

A few coincidences have come up for me lately, some larger than others. There's one that sort of *feels* significant to me, but I can't quite decide on how weird it really is.

I moved to a small town a couple of years ago. Since I moved here, the music that I've played the most (and I usually have music playing for a large part of the day) is by Craig Finn, a singer from New York (I'm in Canada btw). I was already a fan of his band, the Hold Steady, but for whatever reason, I've gotten into his solo music big-time since being here. Maybe because his lyrics are so specific and vivid, I sort of associate a lot of them with living in this house, since this is where I got into the music.

He has a podcast, and I think that anytime he has a new album or a tour, they get him to fire the podcast back up and put out a bunch of interviews with various musicians/writers/etc. I subscribe to it, and last week, I saw that he had a new episode. The musician he interviewed is from Canada, and when I saw her name, I realized that she is the daughter of the guy who used to live in this house. I met that guy once or twice, and I remember that when I had first walked around the place, there was a painting on the wall with her name signed to it (which I of course went home and googled out of nosiness).

So this feels weird to me - there's no geographical reason since the podcast/guy is from the USA, and there was no pre-existing connection before this. When I moved here, I had looked at many, many different towns, all over Ontario, and just happened to wind up in this one. I could have wound up 200km away, and the previous resident could have been a guy who worked at Home Hardware or something.

When I have mentioned this to people, they don't seem too blown away. I suppose it's weirder to me, being the one with the first-hand experience of all this. And I think the coincidence is maybe missing just *some* extra little something to make it inarguably weird. But still!

I am blown away. I guess the minority but I don't believe in coincidence. I even liked that Netflix movie which I am sure some find cringe Letters... oh wait.... Messages? Something for Isabella. ( Man my short term memory stinks).

But seriously. What are the odds? Mathematically very, very small. That is math, basis of science, right? So.... there must be something else at play.

Things like that are what make me a believer.

Let it make a believer out of you, and I think you should don't worry about seeming like a creeper, but reach out to her.

@msafire I didn't actually consider messaging her, I did email her dad, who I have met, basically being like "Hey this is a weird coincidence!" but also just to see how he was doing, he seemed like a nice guy.

I keep having weird coincidences this year/lately. People always say "you should buy a lottery ticket" or whatever, but I always have more of a feeling of "This is probably a harbinger of death for me somehow" hahaha. But you know what: Still alive! (also still have not won the lottery)
