Books
Turn your diary into a book.
Books is a workspace for long-form writing built from your diary. Gather entries into sections, arrange them into a manuscript, and read the result on the web or download an EPUB or PDF.
What it is
Use a book to collect related diary entries, new writing, or both, in one longer project.
Each entry you add becomes a section you can edit without changing the original. You can write sections from scratch too, and arrange everything in the order you want.
When the book is ready, download an EPUB, print a PDF, or publish a web version with its own link.
A workspace for the whole manuscript
Your writing sits in a manuscript: front matter, then chapters, then back matter. A separate set-aside list holds anything that belongs to the project but is not in the book yet.
Drag sections between the lists to build the order you want. The workspace uses a plain greyscale interface.
Sections come from your diary, or from scratch
Add entries from your diary and each one becomes its own section. Sections are copies: editing one changes it in the book only, never the original entry on your diary.
Write new sections from scratch too, so a book can hold more than diary entries. Combine short sections into one, and reorder everything by dragging.
Set out like a book
Add a title, a subtitle and an author name; a pen name is fine. Give it a dedication, an epigraph, and a copyright page.
Choose how chapters are numbered, where the page numbers sit, and whether the body is set in serif or sans. Set the text size and line spacing to taste.
Read it, or take it with you
The web version can display the book as a flowing column or as laid-out pages.
Download an EPUB for an e-reader, or a print-ready PDF. Publish the web version and it gets its own link anyone can read.
